Arts & Entertainment
Man on bike

Our arts and entertainment options are plentiful, especially for Sherman’s size. Downtown is considered our arts district, which is home to theaters, Kidd-Key Auditorium and Austin College. Year-round, the beautifully restored Kidd-Key Auditorium is host to the Community Series, a concert series including opera arias, chamber music, pop performances and the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. Excellent theater performances for all ages are put on by the Sherman Community Players and Theatricks (children’s theater), which is a fun way to spend quality, family time.

Sherman has a rich history, and there are plenty of opportunities to visit museums and historic sites. The Sherman Museum has a wealth of information, exhibits, and photos that chronicle Sherman’s history beginning in the mid-19th century. The Sherman Jazz Museum is a new addition to downtown, and is housed in one of Sherman’s oldest and well known buildings, the Masonic Lodge. The Sherman Jazz Museum is home to Maynard Ferguson’s entire estate, and offers tours and programs on the history of jazz music in America.

Outdoors & Recreation
If you’re an enthusiast of outdoors and recreation, then Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge has plenty for you to enjoy. Not only is it the perfect backdrop for activities including hiking, birding and boating, they have monthly seminars and auto tours to better educate visitors. The lottery-only bowhunting season is some of the best hunting in the State of Texas. Sherman’s parks are home to sporting tournaments year-round, especially baseball, softball and soccer. Of course, Lake Texoma is a short drive from Sherman and is world famous for its striper fishing, sailing and recreational opportunities.
