Whether known as “The Athens of Texas” or a stop on the Butterfield Overland Trail, Sherman, Texas has been a welcoming spot for visitors.
Founded just 10 years after the fall of the Alamo, Sherman quickly became a merchandising center in the new State of Texas. Today, the Red River and Butterfield trail have been replaced by interstates, but Sherman remains a crossroads for visitors with ample opportunities for recreation, shopping and entertainment.
