Downtown Sherman Preservation and Revitalization through the combined efforts of public and private partnerships will promote and preserve the central business district area as a community treasure, focusing on revitalization and retention of the commercial and aesthetic viability of historic Downtown Sherman.
To maintain Sherman’s Downtown area as the focus of the community where history is preserved, businesses thrive, and residents and visitors live, work, shop, dine, and enjoy the arts and entertainment.
DSP&R today is the result of years of work of numerous volunteers. Downtown Sherman Inc. was incorporated in April of 1963 and has changed and evolved through the years. Non-profit, 501c3 status was achieved in 1992 and Sherman was a Main Street City participant from 1993-1998, achieving graduate status in the Texas Historical Commissions Main Street Program. They do not currently participate in the program.
